TWO RIDES: MELBOURNE & THE GRAMPIANS
Hosted by the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation
Melbourne Ride: Sunday 25th January 2009
Grampians Ride: Monday 26th January 2009
Australia Day is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate what’s great about our wonderful country and now, riders can celebrate in the best way possible – on two wheels! The Australia Day Ride to Remember has now grown to include two separate rides; one starting in Melbourne and the other starting in Ararat and taking in the breathtaking scenery around the Grampians.
Melbourne – A Boomerang Ride on Sunday 25th January, 2009
We’ve decided to make the 2009 event a ‘Boomerang Ride’ and what better occasion than in celebration of Australia Day.
The Ride will depart Albert Park at 8:00am and make its way to St Kilda Road, through the City of Melbourne and on to the Monash Freeway. It will then become the first, staged motorcycle event to travel on Eastlink heading South to Frankston for a rest & refreshment stop before traveling back to Melbourne via Beach Road.
The finish point will again be Albert Park where riders and guests will enjoy lunch, entertainment and a range of other displays and activities.
The public are very welcome to come and wave off the bikes and enjoy the festival and lunch in Albert Park while they wait for the bikes to return.
Entertainment will be provided by the Victoria Police Bands.
This will be a ‘green corridor’ ride escorted by Victoria Police Traffic Units with assistance from Vicroads, Citylink & Eastlink.
The Grampians – A Boomerang Ride on Monday 26th January, 2009
The Grampians Ride will depart at 9:45am from the Alexandra Gardens in Vincent Street, Ararat and follow a rural course to the fringes of the Grampians. This too will be a ‘green corridor’ event escorted by Victoria Police with a rest & refreshment stop at Moyston then returning again to Ararat for lunch and live entertainment in the Alexandra Gardens. Total ride distance is 192kms.
Both events are open to registered motorcycles and licensed riders. Club, group bookings, pillion passengers most welcome. Participation subject to the terms and conditions imposed by the organizers.
Cost per event:
$20 per bike & rider
$15 per pillion passenger
Includes ride, lunch, entertainment and tolls (Eastlink)
Public access to the display & entertainment area in Melbourne is free and lunch tickets can be purchased on the day.
